In an interview with the Washington Times, Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) proposed an “across-the-board” spending freeze saying that it would be the best way to get control of government spending as well as putting a stop to Obama’s “socialist” agenda.
Mr. Grassley told editors and reporters at the Washington Times that a spending freeze is necessary to get the federal deficit under control and to show voters that the government is capable of living within its means in hard times.
“what you get when you have an across-the-board freeze is everybody is seen as contributing something,” Mr. Grassley said.
While I’m all for everybody living within their means, is a spending freeze the best idea, especially with the economy as it is?
Tonight, on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, David Shuster posed the same question to Daniel Gross, Senior Editor at Newsweek.
I guess not. But you already knew that, didn’t you.
